Cori Lovesey
(Stuttard)

I am an integrative psychotherapist offering appointments online, and in person in North London and West Berkshire, or in other locations by arrangement. I work with a range of presenting issues, but many of my clients choose to work with me because of my interest in family and relationship matters, bereavement, anxiety, low self-esteem and high-pressure work situations.
I believe that relationships are at the heart of everything we do, be those family, intimate or professional. Learning to understand what our relational patterns are, why certain things feel important and how we form and sustain relationships can help us as we navigate other stresses and strains in life. I work relationally – I use the space between us in the therapeutic sense to collaboratively explore your material and the dynamics between us and in your other relationships.
Life can be a bumpy ride for us all, but it is my hope that therapy can provide you with both a supportive and sometimes challenging space to look at change, or to work to understand a situation. I integrate a blend of psychodynamic, existential and some other modalities of therapy. My aim is to provide support for you holistically, so we may at times work in a more cognitive way, to break patterns and examine how diet, sleep and breathwork can support you, but the main part of the work is through talking.
Within the confidential and safe space of our therapeutic relationship, I will be led by you, but I will typically explore your early family experiences and attachments, and we can look at how life events may have left an imprint, work on existing issues and look at the context in which you find yourself living. For some people, therapy proves to be a useful space to explore their identity in the world, whatever that means for them amongst their culture and heritage.
There is much coming to us (particularly through social media) about diagnoses and buzzwords. I am happy to work with some of the emotions and coping mechanisms around neurodiversity. Diagnoses can be helpful, but my belief is always that you or your family member is an individual on a spectrum and as such, there can be no ‘one size fits all’ approach, it is about understanding your personal experience.
I have two teenage children and I used to work as a professional musician and as a journalist.
I am accredited with the UKCP and the BACP.
